7.5 Million Americans had their
identity stolen last year, are you next?
“Why We Are So Mad And You Should Be To!”

Credit theft does not have to be a reactive event like many people and companies lead you to believe. You can prevent credit theft from ever happening to you with a few simple steps.
|
|
STEP #1: Be very protective of your information. Make sure the person you are giving your SSN, and other pertinent info to is legitimate and that they have a right to ask for it.
STEP #2: Shred, rip, burn all documents that could give a perpetrator ammo to steal your identity.
STEP #3: Check your credit report frequently, once a year is not enough! Last year 520,000 ID Theft victims found out when they applied for credit and were turned down.
STEP #4: Collect your mail on a daily basis. This may sound simple, but some of us forget about our mail box. In the past year 400,000 people had their ID Stolen through the mail.
STEP #5: Much of today’s fraud is committed by those close to you. If you have roommates hide or lock your important information. If your kids bring friends over you do not know, make sure you keep your statements in a safe place. Although many of you may say this will never happen to you, it will and does.

Last week my credit card number was stolen from the dumpster outside my house, that night a $10,000 was attempted to be charged on my card, but thanks to my ability to monitor my credit at all times, I noticed the strange credit check and froze all my cards. |

For six months, my roommate was coming home with some new electronic gadget every day,: mp3 player, video games, wireless stereo etc. and I could not figure out how he afforded it all, then I figured it out. I got denied a credit card, apparently I had 4 other cards I did not know about! You guessed it my roommate stole my identity! Since I’ve started monitoring my credit I know exactly who, what and why someone is checking my credit. |

I don’t really no why, but one day I decided monitoring my credit was a good idea and I am so happy I did. I went on two dates with this guy and then we never spoke again. Then while monitoring my credit I noticed a strange credit check. I investigated further and apparently this guys “girlfriend” was trying to pose as me! |
